Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014): Two Line Review

Another standard Marvel superhero to add to the ever-growing list, mind-numbing pointless 'action', lame one-liners and some of the cheesiest strutting to be put on camera make this one to miss.

Bruce Almighty (2003): Two Line Review

Doesn't pretend to be anything more than a straight down the line comedy with some romance thrown in. Carrey is on happily crazy, slapstick form and creates a few laughs along the way.

The Selfish Giant (2013): Two Line Review

A well-written story of true British grit, heavy going with a poignant message of loss of innocence. Introducing a great young cast, this Northern based film stays true to the traditions of it's genre.

Public Opinion: 7.4/10
Critics Opinion: 9.7/10

Dom Hemingway (2013): Two Line Review

A celebration of everything crass and vulgar about British culture, in a poetic monologue kinda way. Larger than life, Law launches into his role with gusto and is brilliant, supported well by Grant.

Safety Not Guaranteed (2012): Two Line Review

A quirky comedy that plays it surprisingly down-the-line, with less laugh-out-loud moments that one might expect. It's sweet and touching although little slow at points, but topped by a great ending.

Thinking Film Rating: 6/10

Public Opinion: 7.1/10
Critics Opinion: 9.1/10

Safety Not Guaranteed - Colin Trevorrow

The Imposter (2012): Two Line Review

A smoothly edited story told in a brilliantly two-sided approach, the facts are laid as unbiasedly as possible. There are no answers here, just a sense that the truth is there somewhere...

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014): Two Line Review

A delightful, colourful and musically magical piece from Wes Anderson that mixes action, comedy, and fantastic performances from an incredible cast. While a little slow at points, it is still brilliant fun.

The Book Thief (2013): Two Line Review

A sweet film about finding the little moments of joy in the face of tragedy. Never over-dramatic, it excels at finding a realistic atmosphere. Excellent performances all round, but Rush is outstanding.

The Future (2011): Two Line Review

Started so strong with a brilliantly quirky style and characters but sadly, after the half-hour mark, it seemed to lose speed, not really sure where to go and kind of petered out. A nice outing from July.

Non-Stop (2014): Two Line Review

A solid single-location thriller lead by Neeson, there were just enough twists to maintain interest and suspense. An easy-to-watch film that ticked all the boxes for its genre but added little else.

Thinking Film Rating: 6/10

Public Opinion: 7.6/10
Critics Opinion: 5.8/10

Oblivion (2013): Two Line Review

A Cruise star vehicle that ripped of a number of well-known (and loved) sci-fi films, most notably Duncan Jones' Moon. With a weak script and dialogue, the only good point was some well-done CGI.

Thinking Film Rating: 3/10

Public Opinion: 7/10
Critics Opinion: 5.4/10

Oblivion - Joseph Kosinski
