World War Z (2013): Two Line Review

Solid performances from the cast and a good starting sequence. To say that the film focused entirely on action would be unfair, but you can't help but feel that some of the action felt forced...

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (2013): Two Line Review

Generally an entertaining film with a few moments of laugh out loud humour. The storyline felt a little overblown and forced at times but this is a solid British flick with a good cast.

Saving Private Ryan (1998): Two Line Review

While heavily patriotic and monologued, the battle scenes are still unparalleled and the themes surrounding the futility of war are as strong as ever. Fantastic performances from a great cast.

Bad Teacher (2011): Two Line Review

Bad teacher... bad film. Diaz's unrealistic and unlikable heroine is also unfunny, badly written and over-the-top in this supposed 'rom-com'. Segel, you are better than this! Avoid at all costs.

She's The Man (2006): Two Line Review

With a unconvincing plot and Bynes' subpar performance as a man this film hardly gets off to a good start. The few small laughs are barely enough to get you through. Younger audiences may enjoy.

The Girl Next Door (2004): Two Line Review

A surprisingly fun teen comedy, made more so by the chemistry between Hirsch and Cuthbert, the laughs come often and while the performances are a little overdone, it's all in good fun.

Public Opinion: 6.8/10
Critics Opinion: 5.5/10

10 Things I Hate About You (1999): Two Line Review

One of the better teen flicks to come out of the 90s, Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles are on top form with a good script based on a Shakespeare play, unfortunately the soundtrack did not age so well.

Thinking Film Review: 6.5/10

Public Opinion: 7.2/10
Critics Opinion: 6.1/10

Pitch Perfect (2012): Two Line Review

An easy to watch chick flick. The all singing, all dancing, sickly sweet often feels solely aimed at an American audience. Aca-great performances, Kendrick leads well but Wilson is the show stealer.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014): Two Line Review

An enjoyable enough superhero blockbuster with the usual amount of cliches, cheese and plot holes. Despite this, it does not take itself too seriously, and is all the better and funnier for it.

A Complete History of my Sexual Failures (2008): Two Line Review

Chris Waitt's rambling documentary is not neither as touching or as funny as you might've hoped, swinging between attempts to force himself into embarrassing situations and dull monologues

March of the Penguins (2005): Two Line Review

Fantastic Emperor Penguins and exquisite landscapes are ruined by a cringeworthy, intrusive sound-track. Freeman's voice-over is good but he can't disguise the odd 'penguin porn' moments.

The Quiet Ones (2014): Two Line Review

A film that seeks to scare more through the jump factor her than gore factor, the acting is good most of the time and the dialogue can be patchy but it's enjoyable enough and creates a few good scares.

Public Opinion: 7/10

The Quiet Ones - John Pogue

Frances Ha (2012): Two Line Review

An exuberant performance from Gerwig crowns a fun and frivolous film about finding your feet in the world. The heavy French New Wave overtones lent well to the film, and the dialogue was brilliant!

Labor Day (2014): Two Line Review

Felt very much like a adaptation of a book with heavy amount of voice over lifted straight from passages of the book. Good performances, particularly from Winslet (as usual), but very slow pace.

Public Opinion: 6.9/10
Critics Opinion: 3.3/10
